COVID diary

Today, COVID has faded from memory, drowned beneath news feeds filled with reports of wars, hostage crises, hurricanes, elections, and more. I personally remember that period like a dream. However, I still physically recall the feeling of helplessness in the face of an unclear, invisible threat with no cure.

We spent several months almost entirely confined to our small Moscow apartment—me, my husband, and our two young children. The apartment became our home, school, office, photo studio, theater, and gymnastics hall, all at once. To stay sane, I kept a visual diary. Along with recording my thoughts and impressions, I noted the daily number of infections and deaths.

COVID become my best life coach in living and acting in uncertainty.
